One new German girl

I am Franzi and I just arrived some days ago for my 6-month-stay in Cunnamulla at Out the Back Australia. Although I have just arrived I had already the opportunity to see a lot of the typical Outback in Australia. I went on tour the first week with two very nice sisters from the Netherlands. We had a lot of fun and we really enjoyed our impressions of the outback. We went to a Roderick Taylors farm where we flew in his plane and drove a Quad. That was really an adventure! Besides we went to Charlotte Plains to see another real Outback farm. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to our friends from the Netherlands, but we all hope that we will see us one day again!

Beautiful January Sunday in the outback

What a magnificent day to wake up in the outback of Queensland.  This morning in Cunnamulla it i is clear blue skies and a nice cool breeze.  The birds are out in force and I am sure the locals will also be given it is such a magnificent day.  See this Tawny Frogmouth that came to visit in our back yard.  There are in fact three of them that keep coming and going.  When they are up in the trees they look like a piece of dead branch.  Would you like to see these birds in your yard?

HOT

It is getting hot!!!

This week it is over 40 degrees and you really have trouble not to sweat. Of course air-conditions are running everywhere, so you are hopping from one cool spot to the other. What are you doing to stay cool and to get away from the heat? Are you just sitting in front of your air condition at home watching TV? Or are you enjoying the heat outside sitting under a shady tree? Probably you are swimming in the pool or in the river?

These are all opportunities to stay cool and not to get a heatstroke. If you have to go outside during the hottest part of the day, that means around lunch time, wear a hat and lots of sunscreen. Drink always plenty of water before you leave the house and while you are staying in the heat!

If all these tips do not help you should maybe think about travelling to a cooler place? Holidays are still on so take your gear and head of!

What did you do??

We are sitting here in our air-conditioned office, freezing. So we are nice and cool if you want to join us, we also offer cold drinks!!

Happy New Year to everybody!!!

Good luck, health, happiness should be with you!!! We hope you are celebrating the change of the year duly.  Where are you going to be on New Year’s Eve? Are you going out with your partner? Are you staying at home with your family? Are you travelling?

2012 will be a new start so if there is anything you want to change New Year is a good opportunity to start. What’s about for example getting your hair cut? Or changing the color of your room? Even little changes can make you more comfortable make you life more interesting exciting. Write a piece of paper what you want to change during the next year or what you want to do and keep it somewhere. In the end of the year you can see which of your dreams have come true.

So all in all have a good start and enjoy as much as possible.

Christmas

Christmas is over…

It is all over so fast and you have to wait for it one year again…

How did you spend your Christmas this year? Have you been visiting your family at the coast or on a property? Has your family been at your place? When did you open the presents what kind of lunch or tea did you have?

We had a really nice Christmas in the real Outback. We did not start until 10 o’clock in the morning because we wanted to sleep in and to get ready with our lunch preparation. So at 10 o’clock everybody came to open the presents which were placed under the Christmas tree.

It was absolutely unbelievable how many presents there were. When we finished opening all the gifts everybody had a look around to see what the others got. Afterwards the big feed startedJ. With cheese platter, fruit platter, chips and bikkies, nuts and dried fruits, until the real lunch was ready. During lunch a little food fight with jellies and nuts was started and you could hear bangs everywhere because the Christmas bonbons were opened. After lunch dessert was prepared together to enjoy it afterwards. The day ended with nice chats and satisfaction.

So how did you spend your Christmas?
